A dense black soil with a high organic content. It is the No 1 choice for border and bed applications. This soil also has excellent hydroscopic properties (absorbs and retains moisture). When applied to borders or beds it will retain its rich black colour throughout the year. During the dry summer months when the soil tends to become dry on the surface the natural colour may fade slightly due to moisture loss, however the natural colour can easily be re-established by simply raking over the surface or watering.
